Isaac Akena

Isaac has over four years of working experience as a process engineer in the manufacturing industry. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree (Hons) in Chemical Engineering from Kyambogo University.

He is an expert in manufacturing operations management, that’s, material management, manpower management, equipment management and process management. Furthermore, he has experience in managing both simple and complex manufacturing design projects. His competencies include performing economic and investment appraisals, preparing engineering designs, vendor sourcing and qualification, equipment installation, equipment qualification, process validation, plant commissioning and startup, preparation of standard operating procedures, plant operation, and troubleshooting. He is also experienced in quality analysis and control including the implementation of quality management systems and staff training. He is well versed with engineering soft wares such as Aspen Hysys, Aspen plus, AutoCAD, in preparation of energy and material balances, PFDs, P&IDs, process and instrument data sheets and troubleshooting, across the manufacturing and energy sector.

His competencies extend further to quality risk analysis and management, process modeling, simulation and optimization, and process integration. He is also well versed with current Good Manufacturing practices (cGMPs), Good Documentation practices, and Good engineering Practices. He is also experienced in GMP audits by national, regional and international bodies.

He has undertaken professional trainings, such as Quality Management Systems Requirements ISO 9001:2015 from Uganda National Bureau of Standards, cGMP by World health Organization, among others. He is well acquainted with all the requirements of process safety management (PSM).
